About the Fellowship

The SSC Graduate Fellows is a one semester appointment that provides guided experience in statistical consulting and data analysis. Students will learn how to consult on applied problems in a variety of different disciplines and will gain considerable experience in all aspects of the consulting role. Students may concentrate on either statistical or mathematical consulting.

Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience applying statistical methods using data from faculty and researchers across campus. Students will be involved in all aspects of data analysis, from meeting with researchers to discuss the goals and details of their experiments, to analyzing the data and preparing the results. Details regarding the program are summarized below.

  • The appointment is for one semester and participants will also be eligible for future positions in the Division.
  • Fellows will receive a 10-hour GRA appointment and, if desired and eligible, an additional 10-hour TA appointment within the division for a total of 20 hours of support.
  • Graduate Fellows must enroll in SSC 388, a seminar in consulting.
  • Expect approximately seven hours per week independent of class time for meetings or assignments.

Funding for the SSC Fellows positions has been made possible by the Office of Graduate Studies.
